Geometrical Affairs / Cars
60 Selected Works of Art from the Mercedes-Benz Art Collection
The Mercedes-Benz Art Collection, established in 1977, focuses on a concrete-constructive, conceptual and minimalist pictorial conception. For the first time in the area of Stuttgart, the main spectrum of the Collection is represented in the City gallery Sindelfingen with high quality works and work groups by more than 30 artists.
Works by Sylvie Fleury and Andy Warhol represent a small, company-related part of the Corporate Collection: photos, paintings and videos around the theme of the automobile. Yet, the exhibition is focusing on appr. 50 exemplary works from the Collection under the heading ‘Geometrical Affairs’. Showing classic paintings by Josef Albers and Adolf Fleischmann besides new ‘Sculptural Situations’ by the young Australian artist Gail Hastings, the show is spanning developments in art over six decades. Painting and object art working with seriality or concentrating on black and white surfaces can be discovered alongside pictorial ensembles of bright color and irradiant presence.
