“Borders and Refugees” – one of the most relevant and current topics for society and politics. Initiated by the renowned Stuttgart cartoonist and illustrator Erdoğan Karayel (Editor of the German-Turkish caricature magazine Don Quichotte), an international competition has been arranged in 2015 in which 107 artists from 44 countries were engaged with drawings and caricatures. How do they illustrate the increasing number of refugees, coming from Africa and the Middle East to Europe? How do they Picture people at their dangerous escapes on land and at sea? What do the refugees have to go through on their way to a better life–after having offered all their belongings? The competition resulted in a diverse range of drawings and illustrations, some of them really getting under your skin.

Prior to the exhibition in Gernsbach, it was shown at the Daimler Conference Center in Stuttgart, Untertürkheim (May to October 2016).
