Created to inspire sustainable fashion design, Mercedes-Benz awards the third Sustainability Prize to Petra Fagerstrom at the 38th Festival d’Hyères. The up-and-coming designers were encouraged to upcycle materials from Mercedes-Benz passenger cars into their designs. In the accompanying campaign, the looks of the finalists are presented around the artwork “C111” by Michael Sailstorfer from the Mercedes-Benz Art Collection. For the artwork, the Berlin-based sculptor converted in 2011 an old Mercedes into his dream car from his childhood days. How this extraordinary vehicle came about and what drives Michael Sailstorfer in his art, you can read here in the interview.
