Andreas Schmid (*1955 Stuttgart, D) is represented in the Mercedes-Benz Art Collection with numerous artworks. His artistic perspective and his practice as an artist stems from a constant thinking in terms of drawing and in terms of space (dot, line, surface, space), bridging the gap between them and the social and cultural qualities of spatial orientation in a way that is as surprising as it is conceptually compelling. This is the starting point and essential impetus behind the artist’s wide-ranging field of work: drawing, photography, spatial drawing, graphic and performative groupings in space with crossovers into installation and theater, interventions in the public realm, lectures, experience as a curator and author.
