Three variants in the Drift series (2011/12) currently exist, all of which consist of unmarked plexiglass tubes of different lengths and diameters. In Drift 01 these elements rest partially on a balance; they are also suspended from the ceiling by means of tension straps. Drift 02 and Drift 03 are two-part sculptures each consisting of six plexiglass tubes, which are suspended centrally within the space in a precarious state of balance. This carefully judged equilibrium is simultaneously reassuring and irritating. In spite of their clear, unified forms, none of the various versions of Drift could be described as a simple aesthetic experience. Whilst its representative position in relation to Plot is a quality of the artwork that should not be ignored, the way the unobtrusive movements of its floating elements lead to complex changes of scale, proportion and relationship to the surrounding space is also significant.
